Privacy Policy

Donde Travel (“Donde,” “we,” “us”) is a travel-planning app for saving places and sharing honest recommendations with the friends you choose. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We don’t sell your data and we don’t run ads.

Information you provide

Account details — your email address and a display name, used to create and secure your account.
Profile details — optional avatar (emoji or a photo you upload), bio, and home city.
Your travel content — trips, saved places, notes, ratings, itineraries, packing lists, budgets, and any photos you add.
Connections — friend requests you send or accept (identified by email), which determine who can see your non-private content.

Information collected with your permission

Location — if you allow it, we use your device location while you’re using the app to show saved places near you (“Nearby”), center the map, and help fill in a place’s address. We do not track your location in the background. You can turn this off anytime in iOS Settings.
Photos — if you add a photo, we access only the image(s) you select. Photos are resized on your device before upload.

How we use your information

To provide the app — save your trips and places, sync them across your devices, and show them on the map and in Nearby.
To power friend features — let the friends you approve see your non-private trips and places, and you see theirs.
To send account emails — sign-up confirmation and password resets.
To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
To understand and improve Donde and build new features — including by creating de-identified, aggregated data (such as trends and popular places) that does not identify you, which we may use for analytics, product development, and marketing.
To promote Donde — we may feature content you have chosen to make non-private (such as a standout recommendation) in our own marketing. You can ask us to stop featuring specific content by emailing us.

What others can see

Your content is private to you by default. When you connect with a friend, they can see the trips and places you have not marked private. Anything you mark Private (a trip or an individual place) stays visible only to you. Deleting a friend removes that mutual visibility.

How your information is stored & protected

Your data is stored with Supabase, our backend and storage provider, on secured cloud infrastructure.
Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never stored in readable form or visible to us.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and your login session is stored encrypted on your device.
Access to your data is enforced by row-level security so that other users can only see what you’ve chosen to share.

Service providers

We share limited data with providers that operate the app on our behalf, only as needed to run the service:

Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication.
Resend — delivery of account emails (confirmation and password reset).
Apple — app distribution via the App Store / TestFlight.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, trips, places, photos, and friend connections. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Want your data removed but can’t access the app?

Email us at hello@dondetravel.com from your account’s email address and we’ll delete it for you.

Children

Donde Travel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Your choices

Turn location access on or off in iOS Settings.
Mark any trip or place as Private.
Edit your profile, remove friends, or delete individual places and trips.
Delete your entire account and data from within the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll post the updated version here and change the effective date above. Significant changes will be communicated in-app or by email where appropriate.
